Looks Like Newt Gingrich Will Run in 2012 For President

Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, announced at the State Capital in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday that he will be creating an official website in order to make a bid for the presidency in 2012. Newt described that he will be laying out the framework and giving some careful thought on deciding to whether or not to run. However, many major news outlets expect an official declaration for the republican candidacy in the coming weeks. The former Speaker is popular among conservative nationally and has strong name recognition. Gingrich is said to have probably one of the best advantages because he already has established followers all over America and connections to donors.

Gingrich will have to face some questions about electability from both democrats and republicans because of his past moral faults. The former speaker has been married three times and it was reported that he was having an affair on his first wife while she was battling cancer. Newt was confronted with the issue of his two divorces during a speaking event at the University of Pennsylvania and owned up to his faults in the past. He said that God is forgiving and if citizens want to look to the past then as president he would be irrelevant. However he said, if citizens are willing to look to the future then he will be ready to have that debate.

Newt is a die hard fiscal conservative and has been speaking out on the financial problems America through his commentary on fox news, interviews and speeches across the nation. He believes that when politicians get tax payers money they see it as their own personal spending money. Gingrich has said he would like to make major changes to the bureaucracies in America by getting rid of them entirely and have instead free market enterprises that manage finances in a more productive manner.

Newt is a religious man and in 2009 he changed from a being Baptist to a being a Catholic. He is a devout social conservative relating to political issues. He has stated that homosexuality is a sin and gay marriages should not be recognized. Moreover, he has stated that he opposes adoption rights of gays and lesbians. The former Speaker opposes abortion and thinks that abortion doctors should serve prison time, however mothers seeking abortions should not be penalized. At an event in Florida Gingrich stated that Supreme Court justices should be thrown out do to their loose interpretations of the US constitution.

A recent Gallup poll shows Romney and Huckabee tied at an 18% favorability rating. While Sarah Palin is in at third place for 16% of favorability. Gingrich himself is in fourth place at 9%, however we should expect this number to increase due to the fact he is the first well-known candidate to officially enter the race. We should expect to hear from the Newt campaign in the coming weeks.
