If you watch a lot of love stories movies and if you think that romance is only happening in your 20's, you are definitely wrong. It is a well known fact that romance at golden age could be the sweetest of all romances experienced in a lifetime.

This wrongful thinking is caused by two major misconceptions about older people. The most important misconception is to think that people over 50 are not capable of sexual activity. One must never forget that sexuality is a healthy component of adult life at all phases of our maturity. Therefore senior citizens, as human beings, are just as capable of sexuality in their relationships as youngsters, albeit probably much more careful.

The second misconception is that seniors are not romantic people, and this is also far from the truth. This myth must have been started by people who never spent time with their elders. Contrary, seniors are very romantic people. If anyone ever thought about tracking the seniors movie rental patterns, they probably realized that older people love romantic comedies and have high interest in romantic relationships.

If we examine the retirement years of any senior couple, we notice right away that romance is actually blossoming at this time in their life. All that stress related to raising children or work is gone. Romance at golden age becomes even sweeter and more exciting than it was when they were dating. Now it is time to rediscover why they fell in love in the first place.

As far as single senior citizens are concerned, they are perfectly capable of looking for romantic times. Moreover, older adults are willing to spend more time in nurturing their newly found romance, as they are not eager to see the relationship going somewhere, as a youngster looking to start a family. At this stage of life, a senior citizen will see a relationship as a much needed companionship and he or she will put a lot of thoughts into it.
