Women after 50 use make up to reinvigorate the face and to get a youthful and fresh look. Therefore, the make up should be as light and as natural as possible. A heavy makeup on a mature face will accentuate the wrinkles and dark circles, creating an exhausted look. Here are some tips on how to use make up after 50.
The first step in any makeup is applying the foundation. Women over 50 need to use a very light foundation with the same color as their natural skin tone. It is recommended to use primers before foundation, as primers smooth over wrinkles and tighten the skin.
If you like to use eyeliner, do not use it on the lower lash line. It will draw attention to the dark under eye circles and you don't want that. Draw just a thin line on the upper lash line.
Try to use soft, natural colors for your eye line. Black eyeliner is too strident. Use browns or grays, it will make a huge difference.
There are so many eyeliners on the market. Look for soft pencils or gel liners. Aging eyelids are soft and sensitive, a hard tip eyeliner won't work well.
Avoid smokey eyes make up. It will make you look more burned out than beautiful. Use an eye brightener or highlighter to help balance out dark eye makeup. Use it in the inner corner of the eye and under the brow.
Eye shadows are tricky too. It is a good idea to apply an eyelid primer before eyeshadow. It is available in all the beauty stores.
Under eyes circles could be very annoying. They can be hidden successfully by concealers, only if the concealer has the right color. Test the concealer on your skin before you buy it.
Eyebrows usually fade with aging. Using a soft color eyebrow will take care of this problem. Use brown or gray, black is too strong for a mature face.
Mascara is a must. It is amazing what just a single coat of mascara can do it. It literally opens your eyes. Make sure you don't get the spider legs lashes when using several coats. Wipe off the mascara wand after the last coat and use it one more time to separate the lashes. This trick will eliminate the heavy buildup. If you like false lashes, now is a good time to use them. Don't forget to top them with one coat of mascara too.
After 50 the natural color of your lips fades. No problem, there are so many lipsticks on the market. Choose a soft color that matches your skin tone. Don't use lip liner, unless it is a nude color.
You finished the eyes, brows and lips. Now you need some blush. Make it as natural as possible, like you are really blushing. It will instantly make you feel younger.
Finish your fabulous makeup with a loose powder, using a large blush.
