With the evolution of online video sites (thank you Youtube!) people have started putting videos online of just about anything and everything. It was only a matter of time before people started putting their thoughts, reviews, and opinions online. And voila! It was only a matter of time before people started putting their thoughts, reviews, and opinions online. And voila! The video blog a.k.a. vlog is born.
For personal blogging, video blogging works with people on the internet expressing themselves. Some people will find it easier and more fun to just put a camera in front of themselves and start talking. And there are many people out there who just love to browse youtube and video sites, kind of like watching television but in three to eight minute entertaining segments instead of half hour shows.
If you think about this from a business standpoint, you can use video blogging as a way to put videos (a.k.a. commercials) out in front of the public for free.
Thinking about it from a web point of view, web content is pretty much static. With television and video, things are moving. A picture is worth a thousand words. Think about what a moving picture is worth.
The good news is that video logging is fairly cheap in money and resources. You just need a digital camera these days, possibly some video editing skills, and a computer with internet connection. You don't even necessarily need to go and buy video editing software because Windows comes free with Windows Movie Maker and Macs come free with iMovie. I have personally used both and they are both very rich in features.
As you get familiar with your video editing software you will find easy ways to incorporate music, photos, and other videos into your video. In no time you will be able to turn out some really fancy looking videos for your blog. For a business, this is a great tool to help you build your business. For personal journaling it's just a nice way to reach new readers and also simply a way to have more fun with your blog.
So go to it and start a blog video!
