Blogging is a very popular way to make money whether you are blogging in the "traditional" way of online journaling or utilizing an online blog as a way to update and distribute content easily. With affiliate products, most internet marketers will look to start a blog in a specific niche, create valuable content, and then provide links to affiliate promotions for viewers to click on. The idea is that when a person buys a product through your affiliate link, you make a commission on that sale.

When you are looking to start an affiliate website, researching a product and niche is quite important. I will discuss this another article. This article will assume that you have already decided on a niche and also some affiliate products.

There are three tactics that have worked before with online marketing and is continuing to work in the online affiliate marketing world of today. With these top three marketing tips, you will be able to able to increase your sales and survive in the affiliate marketing online.

What are these three tips?

1. Use a unique online presence for each affiliate product you are promoting.

This could mean for example if you have a site about dog training and you want to promote five different dog training manuals. You would want to make a separate blog post about each one to promote each one. For products with a higher search volume you may want to make that the only product promoted by the entire website. Either way the idea is to focus the reader on one product and decrease the distractions.

Always include product reviews on the website so visitors will have an initial understanding on what the product can do to those who buys them. Also include testimonials from users who have already tried the product. Be sure that these customers are more than willing to allow you to use their names and photos on the site of the specific product you are marketing.

2. Give up something free, such as a free report in order to obtain "recyclable" traffic.

A good place to position these as at the top-left side of your page. If you think about it, people read left to right and top to bottom. So they will see your report. After they have your report, you can take advantage of the fact that many studies show that a sale is often made on the seventh contact versus the first contact. This free report allows you to recycle traffic!

You can place your ads in this freebie report as one way to recycle traffic. The other is to ask your prospects to join your mailing list to obtain the free report.

By asking for their email address, this means that you can always email them back with more information, useful blog posts, and products you are selling after they have left your site.

By placing advertisements in your free report (such as at the beginning or end of your report), you are recycling traffic each time the prospects reads the report. Each time they see your ad, they may click back to your site. Moreso, if they give the report to someone else, that is a way to get new traffic.

3. Get targeted traffic.

This is pretty much common sense. If you are selling gum, you have a higher chance selling to someone who is looking for gum than to someone who is looking for a computer monitor.

Here are four tried and true methods for attracting targeted traffic. Each of these methods warrants their own article (or even their own book!). These four methods are: blog networking, forum networking, social network networking, and article marketing.

With blog networking, you are looking to interact with related blogs. That can mean something as involved as guest blogging for a related blog or as easy as commenting on blog posts of a related blog.

For forum networking, you can participate in discussions in the various forums related to your niche and participate.

Social networking sites are huge these days and many of them provide various "groups". Social network networking involves joining these groups and being a participant in these groups. Myspace, Facebook, and Yahoo Groups are three examples of where you can find niche groups.

Lastly, for article marketing, you want to write a few articles a month (or more) related to your website and submit them to one or more of the popular article directories out there. Ezinearticles and Goarticles are two very popular sites. The good news is article directories allow you to link back to your site in the author's resource box.

Statistics dictate you will make a sale about 1% of the time. That's a conversion rate of 1 out of 100. To increase these rates, you want to in crease traffic. In this article we've talked about ways to recycle traffic as a way to increase traffic. We also talked about getting targeted traffic in an effort to increase conversions.

These tactics above are not difficult. They are just time consuming. It requires time and action on your part to put all of these into play. When you do these tactics, you will put yourself in a better position for creating a good source of online income.

Best of luck!
