Anyone who hopes to make money at home is more likely than not going to need a website. The problem now becomes generating publicity for your website.

An old yet effective method of steering targeted prospect to your site, and converting the into buying customers is via information based marketing. Such form of marketing can be achieved via article writing, submission, and publication.

There exist several tools which simplify the process of disseminating your articles to the internet world. While this is a key step, there are a set of common mistakes which are commonly made by individuals prior to submitting their articles to directories. We will focus on three such mistakes below.

1. Confusion between the actual purpose of the article, and the promotion of the article.

The main benefits of promoting your articles are not only branding and lead generation, but also providing information to the reader regarding your subject. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that your articles are based on discernible facts. If your articles are baseless, your promotional efforts will become moot as your words hold no merit.

2. A failed realization and maximization of the promotional opportunities provided by article marketing.

Most people who engage in article marketing already realize the benefits of submitting their articles to the article directories. These benefits are generating back links to your site from the directories themselves, as well as from any person who wishes to publish your article from the directory. Although this is a major benefit, it stops short of the full benefits which article marketing provides.

These same articles can also attract more visitors, and higher search engine rankings. In order to make this happen, you need to provide relevant keywords at strategic places in the article. As you can see in this article, I have my keywords at both the top and the bottom of the page. Furthermore, the keyword is highlighted in one way or the other to grab the attention of the search engines. Notice how I do not overdo it in order to avoid what the search engines refer to as keyword stuffing. This occurs when the targeted keyword is placed on the page in too high of a concentration. The search engines will recognize this, and disregard your results.

3. Creating articles with content that does not inform the reader.

It may be your simple goal to create an articles, get back links to your website from the directory, and produce the odd random visitor. If this is your thought process, you are being short-sighted, and may backfire.

In order to achieve the highest standard of quality, many article directories will only allow you to submit a certain number of articles until you have proven that your articles will actually contribute to their directory. If your articles are not of acceptable quality, they will be rejected.

You have to admit that the mere thought of a single publisher with one-hundred thousand website visitors per month choosing to add your article to their website is enough incentive to write a worthy article. Focus on quality, not quantity. You can do this by first researching a sought after topic, and writing an informed article on the subject. After all, you will learn something pertinent to your niche  during the process.

Nonetheless, the strategy which you decide to take is entirely up to you. Just remember that in order to make money at home, you need website traffic. This article has just laid out one of the most effective strategies for generating this traffic.
