Is it possible to take a normal offline service business like a legal practice, private medical practitioner or even a real estate business and make money at home with it? You may be surprised, but the answer is a resounding “YES”.

If you are an online business owner, or even an affiliate marketer, you can attest to the fact that it is difficult to make money at home. Many self-proclaimed online marketing gurus will have you believe that there is only one avenue to make money from home, and this is to create your own information products, generate an motivational sales letter, and sell these products via an affiliate program or network.

The truth of the matter is that this method does work, and is very ethical. However, it is not the only path which can lead to success. I know this first hand as I have make a living at home, using my websites to promote both my own, as well as other people's businesses. However, several of the businesses which I chose were service oriented, and very effective.

In fact, I would venture to argue that other than digital products, service oriented businesses typically have a lower overhead in order to provide their services than does a product focused business. As a result, aside from businesses which sell digital products, service oriented affiliate programs are often willing to provide their affiliates with a larger percentage of the fees which they generate.

The key to promoting a service oriented business, is to use sales language which addresses the needs of the potential client base. For instance, there is not need for a five page sales letter when you are trying to promote Search Engine Optimization services. It is just not effective.

Rather, they key is to construct a website in a way which allows the website to give objective advice. Potential clients and customers want to receive objective information before making a decision to purchase. If you appear that you are attempting to convince, or sell, your credibility will be compromised.

The sites which I have tended to concentrate on, are business to business sites. I suppose that you could say that I have a preference for business to business sites when selling services. The reason being that individuals generally do not have as much money to spend, and are less likely to make a decision, than an a business which simply needs the facts in order to make a decision to purchase or hire.

My approa ch works and through various websites, I have managed to attract the business of quite a few household name clients, for my clients. The great thing about the way I do business, is that I do not necessarily have a client when I build my web sites. Rather, I build my website based on a specific topic, and then build a business around the concept of my website.

The sales copy does not need to be flashy, but it does have to be convincing, and have a strong call to action for the website visitor. Rest assured that if you make your call to action strong enough, customers will come looking for you. There will be absolutely no need to cold-call as the website will close the sale for you.

Just keep in mind that there are a number of tools which can be used very effectively in order to enable you to make money at home. Do not ignore selling services online as one of them.
